Conversational AI App
After a young autistic relative struggled to express their emotions to their parents in times of stress and burnout, I wanted to create an app that made it easier for neurodivergent people to communicate when speech felt hard or impossible.
Emotion Cards uses conversational AI to help users find the right word for how they feel, then puts that word on a card they can display on their phone and show to someone instead of saying it. Before building anything, I wrote the agent’s voice guidelines: plain, honest language, one question at a time, and room for people who aren’t sure what they’re feeling yet. I then built the agent in Voiceflow and the app in FlutterFlow, learning both tools as I went.
The app is now live on the web. My next step is to test it with autistic people and their families, and use what I learn to shape the next version.
